About the Department

Mission Statement
The Department of Health Promotion was established to serve the residents of Nevada by promoting school and community programs in Health Education. The department's mission is to assist individuals, groups, organizations and communities in adopting, maintaining, and enhancing lifestyle activities which are conducive to good health. As part of The School of Publich Health, the Department of Health Promotion is responsible for preparing professionally qualified educators in undergraduate and graduate programs which continually meet and exceed the guidelines of their respective governing and accrediting bodies. The mission of the Department of Health Promotion is to be continually recognized locally, regionally and nationally for its undergraduate and graduate programs as reflected by the efforts of the graduates and faculty of these programs. The various curricula in Health Education and Health Promotion are designed to prepare students to be reflective scholars and practitioners.

The mission of the department is accomplished through exemplary teaching, scholarly activities, professional service, and collegial cooperative leadership as demonstrated by the department faculty.

Achievement of this mission allows the Department of Health Promotion to graduate quality students who can create and effectively implement and promote school and community programs in health education in diverse contexts.

The Department of Health Promotion Office is located in the Bigelow Health Sciences (BHS) Room 331. The Department Office phone number is (702) 895-4030 and the fax number is (702) 895-3979. The Department Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
