1A Contact Department of Health Promotion Interim Chair, or Health Promotion Graduate Coordinator. Request Masters of Education in Health Promotion materials. E-mail melva.thompson-robinson@unlv.edu or shawn.gerstenberger@unlv.edu ; visit Dr. Thompson-Robinson's office (BHS 329) or Dr. Gerstenberger's office (BHS 514), or call 702-895-4030, indicating your intent.
1B Contact the Graduate College in FDH 352 (702-895-3320) for application packet or secure the packet online at http://graduatecollege.unlv.edu/info_students/
program_forms.htm

2 Complete all forms (as per instructions on each form) provided by Graduate College.
3A Submit all department-related materials to Department of Health Promotion (BHS 311) prior to deadline. These materials include:
  1. a professional goals statement (1.5 pages),
  2. a one - two page resume,
  3. two letters of recommendation (it is preferred that at least one comes from a college/university professional), and
  4. official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. (A second set is sent to the Graduate College.)

Deadlines:
To start the degree program in the Fall: June 15th
To start the degree program in the Summer: March 15th
To start the degree program in the Spring: November 15th

3B Verify with the Office Manager of the Department of Health Promotion that all Graduate College materials (Graduate Package) have been submitted/received at least two weeks prior to the appropriate deadline (see department deadlines).

After notification of degree program acceptance:

1 Contact your assigned advisor, the Department Chair, or the Graduate Coordinator (melva.thompson-robinson@unlv.edu) to set up an appointment to discuss your program.
2 Meet with assigned advisor, Department Chair, or Graduate Coordinator to discuss professional goals and to review your program.
3 Determine your area of concentration. Choose from:
  1. Administration
  2. Communication
  3. Counseling
  4. Education
  5. Environmental Health
  6. Gerontology
  7. Nutrition and Fitness
  8. Interdisciplinary
4 Complete the Program of Study form (available from the Department of Health Promotion Office) and obtain signatures.
