Graduate Assistant Positions

The faculty in the Department of Health Promotion seek qualified applicants to join their Department in the position of Graduate Assistant. Graduate Assistants work with the department faculty 19.5 hours per week during the semester. The Master's level Graduate Assistant package includes a stipend for the nine month academic year and an 89% graduate tuition waiver. The responsibilities of the position includes the following:

  • assisting professors with appropriate scholarship activities;

  • teaching or assisting in classes offered by the department;

  • providing leadership for selected department and program projects;

  • representing the department on college or university committees or organizations calling for graduate student representation; and

  • completing other duties as agreed upon by the student and the student's advisor and approved by the Department Chair.

The ultimate determination of which activities are assigned will be based upon the background, knowledge, and experience of each Graduate Assistant and the prioritized needs of the department.

There is a finite number of positions available, the search is competitive, and all applicants must meet Graduate College minimum standards (e.g., a minimum GPA of 3.00 at time of acceptance and during all coursework, enrollment in at least 6 graduate hours per semester).
